Our client, a leading supplier of retail equipment and GNFR goods and services, is seeking an Operations & Maintenance Manager for their Welsh manufacturing facility.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to the UK Operations & Strategic Sourcing Director, this pivotal role will oversee the manufacturing, maintenance, and distribution functions at the site. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and the delivery of high-quality products to leading retailers and brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Manufacturing & Maintenance teams, driving operational planning, organisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure manufacturing processes optimise cost, quality, delivery, and safety standards across various production methods including sheet metal fabrication, CNC, roll form, and powder coating.
- Oversee health & safety activities, ensuring legislative compliance and integration of best practice standards such as ISO, FSC, CBAM, UKTR, and EUDR.
- Support the development and execution of manufacturing strategies aligned with business objectives, including budgeting, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction targets.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles, monitor preventative/reactive maintenance programmes, and facilitate process innovation.
- Collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Purchasing, IT, and other departments to promote operational efficiency and excellence.
Person Specification
- Minimum of 3 years' management experience within manufacturing, with a proven track record in strategic manufacturing and maintenance roles.
- Extensive experience with complex multi-product lines, particularly in sheet metal and related fabrication processes.
- Engineering qualification or relevant discipline; Six Sigma Black Belt and health & safety qualifications (NEBOSH/IOSH) are highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to optimise team performance, negotiate effectively, and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Commercially astute with experience managing budgets in fast-paced, change-oriented environments.
- Knowledge of 80/20 principles, problem-solving, and lean methodologies.
- Resilient, solutions-focused, and capable of working under pressure with a positive, can-do attitude.
