Estimator – Point of Sale Manufacturing
Our client, a global Point of Sale manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled, meticulous and analytical Estimator to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong numerical skills, a passion for manufacturing and a background in estimating within a manufacturing environment.
Role Overview
As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role during the pre-production phase by assessing project requirements, coordinating with suppliers and producing accurate, competitive cost estimates. Working closely with project managers, product specifications and suppliers, you will ensure projects are completed within budget while maintaining high standards of accuracy and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate product specifications and production processes to determine cost estimates.
- Calculate project costs including materials, labour, equipment, and overhead.
- Prepare accurate and competitive bids for manufacturing projects.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source competitive pricing for materials and operations outside the Company’s capabilities.
- Manage project timelines, resources and deliverables effectively.
- Maintain comprehensive records of estimates and bids.
- Communicate clearly with project managers, clients and suppliers to optimise manufacturing methods and cost efficiency.
- Stay informed of industry trends and implement continuous improvements in estimating methodologies.
- Produce drawings or sketches as needed to support later engineering processes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 4-5 years’ estimating experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of multiple manufacturing techniques and working with materials, ideally sheet steel fabrication.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience in reading drawings and generating sketches when necessary.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and numerical skills.
- Relevant qualifications in Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
