Our client is a long-established designer and manufacturer of leading retail display products. They are looking for an Estimator to produce risk assessed and highly competitive Estimates tailored to each clients brief. The role requires collaboration with internal sales and project teams as well as external supply partners – you will be responsible for delivering a competitive tender considering supply chain, total cost, quality and timeline. You will be expected to maintain excellent relationships with external supply partners, and help in developing Preferred Suppliers. In addition, you will contribute to improved project margins, quicker speed to market and enhanced client experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Take ownership of individual projects, driving them through the Estimating process to deliver accurate, competitive & risk assessed tenders. Delivery of clear and risk assessed Project Plans.
- Create Bills of Materials and cost templates.
- Work with suppliers to develop project estimates, including leading in negotiation of project costs and terms.
- Enhance the company’s offer by proactively identifying opportunities for value engineering: identify potential areas for cost reduction, or efficiencies.
- Add value through consideration of Sustainability goals and company Sustainable Purchasing Policy.
- Liaise with internal clients to ensure that all information required for tendering has been captured within the project briefs and maintain clear and proactive communication with all internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to accurate reporting and measurement of supply chain performance.
- Assist in sourcing of new products, working with the Design and Development departments where appropriate.
- Assist in ensuring the KPI requirements for the department are met, and accurately maintain departmental records to assist with inter-company marketing.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably assigned by the Line Manager.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience within an Estimating environment.
- A strong knowledge of manufacturing processes involving metal, wood and plastic.
- Previous experience of sourcing and negotiation would be advantageous.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings is essential.
- The successful candidate will enjoy working in a detailed, meticulous, and accurate manner.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and numerical skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Able to work calmly and accurately even when under pressure and working to tight deadlines.
- Computer literate to a high standard.
