Glencourt Associates is partnering with a reputable Point of Sale company based in the South West to identify a Direct Procurer who will play a pivotal role in their retail furniture rollout initiatives. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to lead strategic sourcing activities on a global scale.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end direct procurement processes, focusing on securing competitive pricing and high-quality retail furniture. With the autonomy to source from anywhere in the world, you will drive cost efficiencies, optimise supplier performance, and ensure supply chain continuity across multiple large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement activities from supplier identification through to contract award, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Evaluate and select global suppliers, leveraging international manufacturing strengths to optimise cost, quality, and delivery.
- Manage RFQs, perform cost breakdowns, and conduct comparative analyses to support informed purchasing decisions.
- Negotiate contractual terms, pricing, and payment conditions to secure favourable commercial outcomes.
- Develop sourcing strategies in line with project requirements, volume forecasts, and budget constraints.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners, acting as the primary commercial interface.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, logistics, and quality assurance to ensure procurement aligns with technical and aesthetic specifications.
- Monitor industry trends, raw material costs, and global manufacturing conditions to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Conduct supplier audits ensuring compliance with quality, sustainability, and ethical standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing lead times and enhancing supplier performance.
- Identify and onboard new manufacturing partners, managing the entire onboarding and auditing process.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as woodwork, metalwork, plastics, print, and glass fabrication.
- Expertise in manufacturing costs analysis, value engineering, and sourcing strategies.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and creating effective procurement briefs.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience
- Substantial procurement experience within manufacturing or retail furniture sectors.
- Proven track record in international supplier negotiation and supply chain management.
- Experience reviewing and analysing complex cost data and tenders.
- Previous involvement in large-scale retail furniture production is highly desirable.
