Our client is a long established designer and manufacturer of leading retail display products. They are looking for a Development Project Manager to support their Business Winning Team in its task of increasing company tender conversion rate by managing and delivering a range of development projects: prototypes, material & product samples, VE ideas & supply chain options.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Plan, monitor and deliver a range of development projects for multiple accounts ensuring adherence to agreed budget & timescales.
• Prepare detailed project plans for the completion of works including milestones for manufacture, sub-contractors, assembly, approval and installation. Continuously review these plans, implementing control measures if required.
• Work closely with (and at) external Supply Chain partners to proactively drive delivery of projects (including manufacture of full fixtures, material samples, finishes and sourcing of specialist items) in line with company expectations.
• Work with Business Winning Team colleagues to critically appraise existing designs and propose better solutions either in value, longevity, quality or sustainability.
• Co-ordinate with the Account Manager & Business Winning colleagues to ensure all development projects are completed within clear and agreed parameters.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external supply chain partners.
• Provide weekly reporting on project progress.
• Assess & mitigate risk within each project.
• Launch and / or attend ‘kick-off’ meetings and decide which disciplines of the business will be involved, debrief them and establish timelines from their information and then evaluate final CPA.
• Provide detailed meeting reports from client & internal meetings, clarifying all actions and deadlines agreed and relay information to the relevant departments throughout the business.
• Assist with and / or complete prototype and production estimates and brief sub-contractors and internal resource, if required.
• Visit stores and client development facilities to understand fixture design and finish requirements to proactively start a pricing / production process.
• Work with external suppliers and internal colleagues to create detailed project timelines.
• Ensure all department documentation is completed accurately and in accordance with company policy ensuring that all documentation is finished within the required time.
• Work in accordance with company’s core values and actively promote these values through all interactions; internal and externally.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
• Degree level qualification.
• Qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design or related subject would be desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of design / engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Packages).
• Experience of manual drawing, rendering and Adobe Suite, AutoCAD and Solidworks, as well as knowledge of Sketch Up and Business Management software would be desirable.
• Experience of project management.
• Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment with an excellent understanding of the design and construction process from beginning to end.
• Experience presenting ideas and producing reports.
• Experience of successfully designing and developing products would be desirable.
• Excellent time management and organisation skills with the ability to work with multiple clients and projects whilst aiding others in your team simultaneously.
• Able to demonstrate excellent innovation and imaginative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to communicate goals with others clearly and deliver projects on time and to budget.
• Passion for the industry and the development of projects.
