Development Designer

About the Role
This position offers a pathway to develop your skills within a fast-moving sector, supporting the design and technical development of retail and POP solutions. The team has experienced significant growth over the past two years, and your contribution will be vital in expanding project scope across various sectors. The role is office-based in the East Midlands, with general physical requirements being moderate. You will work closely with senior team members on design solutions, site surveys, technical drawings, and product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce development solutions aligning with design and technical specifications.
- Conduct site surveys under supervision, supporting installation activities as necessary.
- Assist in creating technical drawings, 3D mock-ups, and specification sheets.
- Support the product development lifecycle from concept to production, including sample reviews and revisions.
- Collaborate with design, sourcing, and production teams to maintain design integrity.
- Maintain and update bill of materials (BOMs) and product specifications.
- Conduct materials research, liaising with suppliers for samples and feasibility assessments.
- Organise digital files, drawings, and project documentation efficiently.
- Contribute to a team culture of honesty, professionalism, and commercial awareness.
- Report risks promptly to enable proactive business responses.
- Engage with other departments including planning, workshop, and pre-production to align development activities with sales forecasts.
Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Rhino, with strong knowledge of SolidWorks being essential.
- Good understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow specifications accurately.
- Effective communication and organisational skills to manage deadlines.
