Our client is a leading supplier of retail merchandising systems. Due to continued expansion and exciting growth plans they are looking for a Commercial Manager to oversee commercial activities to maximize profitability, enhance customer relationships and drive the company's market presence. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Revenue & DM targets and commercial management for the delivery of projects across customers in the UK & EU. Working with the Procurement and Sourcing team, you will ensure quality, correct specification and that timely deliveries are made aligned to programme demand. You will also be required to format, calculate and generate quotations and tenders for customer projects.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible and accountable for commercial control of cost and margin across all projects, developing and executing strategies to deliver profitable growth.
- Engage with the commercial and contractual elements both internally and client side to ensure contracts are fully understood with any key risks identified prior to commencement.
- Carry out the estimating of all tenders and work closely with the Purchasing, Production and Account Managers to review/analyse bids ahead of presentation to the business for sign off and approval.
- Attend initial site surveys / scope of works meetings at tender stage were possible and advise on procurement strategy.
- Support and understand the commercials of installation contractors and ensure contractual arrangements are in place ahead of works commencing.
- Manage and control a robust commercial review process with the project delivery teams to ensure projects are tracking to signed off margins with any commercial risks identified and mitigated.
- Network effectively within customers to develop relationships and business opportunities, through securing meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Work with the Account Manager to write and deliver high quality tender responses and pitches to clearly articulate the company value proposition ensuring successful outcomes and increased conversion rates.
- Perform the role of “Bid Manager” on all opportunities that have been pre-qualified, acting as the voice of the customer back into the business.
- Work closely with and execute a seamless handover to the Project Management team passing over the day-to-day management of the project delivery, sharing all commercial details.
- Using 80/20 principles document recommendations across all allocated customers for margin growth/volume growth through delivering budgeted VA/VE savings on parts supplied across all customers.
- Update and maintain costs and parts on the ERP system.
- Publish a monthly report detailing quotations/tenders submitted by client with details of revenue, DM, status (won or lost) and why to be shared with Sales Director.
- Review and optimize “make-or-buy” and “make-where” strategies for the company to achieve higher competitiveness in current and future market environment.
- Conduct financial analysis to assess the profitability of various projects and initiatives, implementing cost-saving measures and strategies to improve overall profitability.

- Ability to plan, organise, communicate, and manage all commercial requirements to meet the customers objectives.
- Ability to analyse market data, financial reports, and industry trends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team towards achieving commercial objectives.

- Experienced in MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Full driving licence and able to commute to client locations and offices as required.
