Our client is a leading supplier of retail merchandising systems. Due to continued expansion and exciting growth plans they are looking for a Business Development Manager with experience of working within the Retail Equipment / Fixtures sector, specifically within Grocery / Supermarkets and Brands. You will be responsible for identifying and delivering new customers and should have a proven new business track record of winning and landing big ticket customers in the Grocery Retail / Brand sector - able to hit the ground running to deliver an invoiced revenue of a minimum of £1m in 2025.
You should have high levels of energy, a hunger to win, excellent communication and presentation skills, be a team player and have a senior level network of clients that you can “tap” in to. You will be required to deliver innovative customer solutions, develop a customer acquisition strategy through a qualified new customer pipeline and to deliver new business growth through custom mixed materials in all sectors.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible and accountable for developing and executing new business strategies to deliver growth in accordance with the companies strategy and expectations.
- Accountable for new business development, negotiations and commercial contracts in line with budgeted revenue and DM targets.
- Identify, develop and convert new profitable customer opportunities and grow market share, supported by a targeted plan that reflects the company’s overall strategy, position in the market place and competitive drivers.
- Develop and manage a robust qualified pipeline of new business opportunities through the implementation and management of an effective CRM system to ensure target values and conversion rates are achieved.
- Network effectively with new potential customers to develop relationships and business opportunities, through securing meetings with key stakeholders and decision makers within identified target customers.
- Write and deliver high quality pitches and tender responses to clearly articulate the company value proposition ensuring successful outcomes and increased conversion rates.
- Perform the role of “Bid Manager” on all opportunities that have been pre-qualified, acting as the voice of the customer back into the business.
- Execute a seamless handover to the Account Management team at the point of secured order thus ensuring that a seamless customer on-boarding experience is achieved.
- Provide robust, detailed and accurate forecasts (revenue and margin) in line with reporting timetable that are realistic and can withstand scrutiny and challenge.
- Work closely with all internal departments and colleagues to build strong, collaborative relationships and a team work approach to ensure voice of the customer and customer experience is clearly understood and delivered.
- Working with the Commercial Manager, develop and share market intelligence and competitor knowledge to enable the company to secure maximum profit as a result of informed, intelligent tendering.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
- Experience of selling solutions to Discount Retail, Grocery Retail, Apparel, Convenience and Forecourts, Health & Beauty & Brands (who operate in all the sectors listed) and Services (Installation) sectors.
- Degree calibre education or equivalent.
- Proven track record of new business delivery and account growth in a challenging environment.
- Demonstrable evidence of developing strong and robust relationships with multi contact points within a customer.
- Understanding of the customer decision making process and the ability to articulate a value proposition to increase growth/new business wins.
- Ability to plan, organise, communicate and manage customer relationships in a commercial Environment.
- Understanding of the current industry legislation and any potential impact that needs to be addressed.
